Becoming A Pilates Teacher is Rewarding!

Why Get Certified With Deb Lemon?

So many reasons…

First, the obvious…my credentials! Allow me to validate myself. I have been in the industry of movement for over 25 years (actually almost 35 years, but that makes me feel old). I have trained with many Master Teachers along the way and I save the “name dropping” for training. I graduated with my Classical Comprehensive Certification (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and was invited by Peak Pilates to become a Master Teacher. Since attending Master Teacher Camp in California, I have certified teachers in 4 states (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Florida). I have enjoyed training physical therapists, personal trainers, yoga teachers, retirees, massage therapists, and work from home Mom’s. I have especially enjoyed mentoring and coaching many of my students to open their own studios! I have over 20,000 hours of continuing education, with an ongoing commitment and passion for learning.

When I moved to Florida and opened my studio, I had a burning desire to eliminate the bureaucracy in the business of Pilates Education. The big schools that I was used to had quotas to keep and I found it to be unfair to “fail” someone just because too many teachers were “passing” and visa- versa. The pricing for big schools is such, because too many people needed to get paid at corporate. I wanted to change this. You pay me, and only me.

I also feel very passionately about “in person” training vs. online learning. While online might seem convenient, I am here to tell you…IT IS NOT THE SAME!

Myself and all of my teachers are dedicated to the Classical Method of Pilates. This will never change. While there are many “versions” of Pilates, Classical is the only version you will be getting from me. True to The Method is our belief and our practice, regardless of what is new and different in the industry.

My approach as your Master Teacher is to be a coach. We are all on the same team and the goal for the entire team is to win! Winning is showing up, doing the work, taking feedback, applying the feedback, and passing your teaching and practical tests at the end of your journey. I believe it’s my job to get you there. I own a big part of your success! In fact, if you are one of my students, working at my studio or not…I am here for you! I will do my best to add you to my team if that’s your goal or I will help you secure a position with any other studio you choose if needed.

Teacher Training is a big decision and I believe if done right, it’s an experience of a lifetime! It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it! It’s a story you will enjoy sharing for years to come. You should laugh (a lot) and possibly even cry. Lightbulbs should be going off through the entire journey. The learning should literally be life-changing! You should feel like it’s the best decision you’ve ever made. I want you to feel like we are “bonded” forever. Whether you want to be a teacher or just be a better practitioner, teacher training with me will be something you take with you throughout your life!

What makes my Training Program Special…?

As it is very important and required to be able to execute the exercises you will learn; it is equally (and possibly more important) to be able to TEACH the exercises. Imagine for one minute what it’s like to stand up in front of a group and teach your first session! The struggle is real and absolutely horrifying! This is normal. However, I set you up for success! I teach you how to form your words that are effective and efficient. I teach you presentation skills, how to command the room, safety protocol, anatomy that you’ll understand as it relates to Pilates…and so much more! Before you teach your first session to a “real client”, you will already have taught during the training…A LOT! This is how you learn. Not by reading a book or looking at pictures.

We do drills and activities to enhance the learning process rather than just sitting through lectures of endless information. Every student has permission to videotape all lessons. Imagine the difference of having your actual personal experience as a resource vs. something “staged” or “cookie cutter” or “watered down” that you can find online!

I allow flexibility with scheduling. The schedule is not confirmed until all students agree to days and times. Life is “happening” for all of us and I understand that.

I have trained students with learning disabilities. I know how to work with you, and I am open to your needs.
